The Current Government.

Seeing as this will be the first post in the Debate section, I thought I'd start with something fairly simple and general. My apologies to those of you who live outside the United States on this topic; I'll post a new one that everyone can relate to as soon as I find time.
As I'm sure we all know, the Bush Administration is currently in charge of the United States. So I'll ask this basic question: Do you or do you not approve of the way our President runs things? How do you feel about the decisions he makes? Have your opinions of him changed at all over the years?
I, for one, do not approve for the most part of Bush's leadership. I feel that he is doing a poor job of managing the country and doesn't seem to have a clear plan for the future. Of course, I tend to have a very liberal bend on my opinions, but I felt I should share mine as an example at the very least.
Feel free to share your opinions here! I, for one, promise to be respectful of the preferences and choices of others. And if anyone ISN'T, we'll boot 'em off the site. Good? Good. Get posting~

Now, I'm not part of all the anti-Bush-ism, but I certainly don't agree with most of his decisions. Bush is trying, but the results just aren't that good. I think that after the first few incidents where people felt that they could blame him, it just felt good to blame someone, thus his... low approval rating. For all those things Bush has done, though, they haven't accomplished anything overall. You're right, it doesn't look like he has much of a plan for anything, though. But then again, it's not only the president; the entire government looks like it can't handle serious situations well.

Heh, I suppose you're right. As much as I enjoy a good Bush-bashing, it isn't his fault entirely; people just blame him because he's the President. The entire government behind Bush is more the cause of the lack of progress. And it's not like he's done EVERYTHING wrong, it's more that he hasn't done much RIGHT.
Though I must say that his decision a while back to forbid stem cells to be used for research -- instead condemning them to be thrown away as opposed to potentially helping people, was quite idiotic. Honestly.

Aye, that was a lack of insight. As was sending more troops to Iraq. As was No Child Left Behind, which quashes public schools. As were dozens of issues, great and small.

That's precisely it.
Well, here comes the State of the Union tonight.... let's hear what he has to say.

It sounds as if he has a lot of plans for the future. I think that this State of the Union pleased many. He was talking of the most important issues, but then again, easier to say than to do.

I agree that Bush's original goals were pretty much what we were originally aiming for. But then again, voters don't know precisely what the people they elect are going to do after they've been elected.

Yes that is true. He was one of those presidents who said one thing and did another thing.
One thing I have to say is being in Iraq was bad idea most definetly. Right now if we left Iraq they would be mad but if we stay they'll get madder. Theres not much we canm do now accept leave before they get angryer at us. an less we raise the troop numbers to out number the countrys population what is said what you have to dao to make a country secure.
But in my opinion i think it would be best just to leave.

The situation in Iraq isn't going to go anywhere good, no matter what the U.S. and anyone else does.
What people originally intend, however well-meaning, don't always turn out the way they wanted them to. I am relatively certain that Bush and the rest of our government had/has reasons for their decisions, but the results weren't precisely what they had expected...
But on the whole, the approval rating for the U.S. government isn't very high, among both citizens and abroad. I can't say I agree with much that is being done right now.

I must agree with you all. It seems if there is a new politician, only another half of the country will hate this person next, and once that changes, one of the opposite party will come forward, and the other half of the country will dislike him or her.
I am also unsure when our nation's diversity will show in our highest position. This upcoming election may give as someone other than a Caucasian man.
